還記得第一次聽到〈青い、濃い、橙色の日〉嗎？疾走的兩把結他和鼓點、隨著主唱聲音中的青春衝動，佔據著腦袋。

 

彷彿是注定要被寫進日本獨立搖滾正史，樂隊早於2007年登上富士搖滾音樂祭「ROOKIE A GO-GO」舞台，同年前往美國，於曾任 NUMBER GIRL 製作人的 Dave Fridmann 的錄音室，錄製首張同名迷你專輯《MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS》。

 

粗顆粒的破音、硬朗的低音結他、高昂的人聲，似是回應著前人。細聽下又會發掘更多音樂元素，如 PSYCHEDELLIC、POST-ROCK、MATH-ROCK 等，實在難以簡單將樂隊歸類。

 

今夏完成橫跨兩個月，近30站的北美巡演後，MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS 將在 Infree Records 邀請下，於11月7日作首次香港演出。

 

Without a doubt, MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS is one of the defining indie-rock bands from Japan, known for their unique blend of alternative rock and genre-busting sound.

 

Destined to become part of Japanese indie’s canon, MOTFD had played on FUJI ROCK’s “ROOKIE A GO-GO” stage in 2007, also travelling to the US to record with NUMBER GIRL producer Dave Fridmann, producing their first self-titled mini-album “MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS”.

 

The result is a warm bed of distortion, with a characteristically strong bass presence and soaring vocals. While it seems the band is echoing what has come before them, it’s not hard to hear influences of psychedelic, post-rock and math-rock, making them one of the hardest bands to classify.

 

After completing nearly 30 shows in North America, MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS will make their Hong Kong debut on November 7 in this event powered by Infree Records.

Happy Friday, Hippy Express! Formed in 2017, Happy Friday navigated the realms of Shoegaze and Dream Pop in their early days, moving toward a retro psychedelic sound in more recent years. The current members are: Ruki (Vocal & Guitar), Jeffery (Guitar), Howard (Drums), DR (Keyboard & Synth), and Lokyan (Bass).
